i know both problems, i'm trying to get some more materials
and the shadows are taking way too much time to render or they are unrealistic

Pretty good. I agree with you on shadows. Search DeviantArt for Materials.

also try this. Go to were you make a new material and click load. Choose basics and use some that comes with C4D.
