But really, you just use extrude and whore all over the place, especially matrix extrude. The shape isn't skill its just a material you put on.

cinema 4d has a way lower learning curve and i think that's why friendlyguy chose for cinema4D, just like me
and it's not like you can create "more beautifull" images with 3ds, if you're skilled in one application you can make beautiful things with them and you don't see the difference between teh app used anymore

From what I gather 3D studio max has alot more tools for you to utilize, plus you can script your own functions if the default is not enough for you. Plus there is alot more plugins for it.

When you get over the interface, and start setting it up the way you like it, it is not really that hard to use..

Well... many people say, C4D have a small learning curve and many things are easyer to do. very sweet in deed. But every time i speak with someone who trys to learn C4D, they all feel theyr feel heavy to move. Lack of learning tools. C4D is easy to learn, but thers nothing from learn for. If we put Max or Maya tutorials side by side with C4D tutorial, C4D loses like a dieing horse.

In the end, i see Max or Maya people come with good final works much faster than C4D people. They learn faster because they have access to a enormous library of learning tools. Something that C4D doesn't have.

And i can see a C4D redering from miles....

Max is unstable like a mad man... and if you work with vray...jessss....save your work every minute... cause you will lost it! But it's the most used 3d app, i think, and the app with more tutorials online. And i think is very organized app, dispite of every thing non Max users say.... It's a great modeling tool.

Maya it's the animation and cloth/hair God! :) Use it now before Autodesk fu** it good and froze is evolution.

I have never worked with Softimage XSI but i have read/heard good things about it, and many are transiting from Maya and Max for XSI. It's evolving very good. Autodesk should watch XSI...

Blender it's a nice toy. It's a great free 3d app, but... it´s not competing with the major apps. Sadly.

Autodesk did not fuck up max, discreet did, its getting better y'know :P

Max did a good jump from version 6 to 7 i think. After that there wore not much WOW inprovments, like you see in XSI for exemple or Maya. Every time we get response from autodesk about solving unstability problems they say they have more important things to do.... they could at least buy polyboost.

That is true, but I am optimistic, either that, or I am switching to XSI hehe.
