Ok i forgot to add in the tut or to the outcome, that if lighting causes certain areas to come out too light or too dark you can touch them up by using the eyedropper on the area in question. Then double click on it in the color pallet, uncheck "Only web colors" and select just above or below where the current circle is located depending on if you want a darker or lighter color. Then use your magic wand to isolate that area and just brush the adjusted color in there.

NOTE: This effect is meant to be used as renders in a vector sig and not as a stand alone piece. As stated above the tut I didn't apply touch ups to the outcome, but that also is simply done.

Despeckle helps to "flatten" the stock so that the colors are less blended and therefore the vectoring effect will be more fluent. You can edit the amount of despeckle or sharpen by doing edit>fade despeckle/ sharpen (you MUST do the edit immediately after the despeckle/ sharpen to fade the effect). It may appear as though it didn't do anything because the change is very subtle but it does help by lowering the amount of bleeding of the colors into eachother.

Here is an example of what the effect is meant to accomplish, in this sig I used this method to make the stock appear vectorized.
