Klint, i used vray displacement with a alpha map. For the record, i used vray displacement as 2D and put 1024 as resolution. Also put -0.06 in the displace value.

i see now in top of the screen the nokia logo seems a bit stretched ;)

Jtee, it's realy a seagull with a sardine in his beak. I just got the title wrong. Any way, i'll put a photo of the phone here. Mine is just a bit short in the last render. But i've already fixed that.

gamepr0, thanks, i've already fixe the nokia logo too. About the AA, i realy dont know why the image didn't seem to have it , because it very high. Mabye its because of the low res of the render (800X600)

Final render will bem 2000X2000, or some thing like that.

chris, mabye you'r in the wrong forum, if you just judge a work by your personal tastes then you have a very limited type of work to enjoy or give a controctive critic.

Klint, i mode a map of the "nokia" in black and white. The letters are white,it is the zone i want to vray displacement to interact. The rest of the map is black. This is the zone vray displacement wont interact. With uvwmap modifier i just ajust were i wanted the map and displacement to affect my geometry in the phone. and voilá!

born slippy, i'll take that as a compliment :P

UUilliam, non of the images are final. and that little image of the phone is a real pic of the phone, not a render of mine. I'm corrently making one of the final renders. I hope....

Augustfallsforjune, i'm sick... so...i'm out of patience to... :P But it's kind of "bah" when you work for 20 some hours in a work, and than someone tells you that it's not good because he is not a fan of the product... it's just a comment of someone trying to be funny or a comment of someone that is not mush connected to a forum like this. And today, i'n not in the mood. After hours of work your eyes dont detect many erros. Thats why many people flips horizontaly the canvas so the brain can detect the erros. Other user from foruns are another way to correct those errors like as being appening here. Those are the best critics we can have. Even better if we can get some tips for correcting some mustakes. If the work has nothing to point, then it's god. It's not necessary to work with 3D to see that nokia logo is streshed, or to see that the phone needs to be taller. Than, why making polution?

Final render preview. the computer is still rendering but i think you can have an idea of how it's going to look. It will take some good hours to be finished. And after that, back view render, top, bottom, and sides renders! :s

Personaly i think this is one of my best renders. If not the best. I've leraned some stuff about material wish helped me a lot!

hm why the hell does it take so long? ok maybe you got really complicated materials and rendersettings, but actually its just a cell. i jjust cant imagine that it takes more than 2-3 hours xD

well.... i have a AMD 2.0 with 1GB of ram. The res of my render is a bit large somethingX2000. The shinny materias has 56 subdivisions in the reflexion, wish perhaps was too mush. Also te AA is a bit high. The reflaxion is fresnel with reflect at it maximum. I also have a sun light and 6 vray light surrounding de cell. And now i talk about it... i forgot to increase de sub of the lughts...but..i think the result is good. I didnt check if the render is finished yet today.

Its because the 3d applicacion is in the middle of the calculculations for generating the image i pre-created.(rendering)
I can save a copy of the image while its in the midle of the progress. The fuzzy bits are the zone f the image that are currently being created.

Thanks! Wille back view is rendering, i was playing in photoshop a bit , on post production testing something i have naver done. photodistortion. I think it's a bit exagerated... but for the first one it´s not bad.. :P i hope!

DonTony, that was what i did. If your are talking about as background too, i dont like the result when hdri is seen as background.

And its HDRI, not HDI ;)

i love the final coppy (on page 2) the one on this page, the orange bit is a bit blurry / you doubled it (or so it looks)
but great outcome, it looks better than the actual phone, you should sel lit to nokia im sure they would pay you big bux for that... (if it was a newer phone xD)

UUilliam, if you cant do it why are you saying its very easy...? I really dont understand why people always think working with 3D is just push a button and it's done until they actualy try to do something and realise that you need months of study and work to present a minimum decent work... thats when most of them give up saying it too dificult. UUilliam, i'm not talking directly to you, but i have seen this thought in many places. Actualy, in some places, 3D artwork is underated. we get overcritic and left in a corner with thoughts like, "oh, its nice, but you need to see some tutorials. And i just dont do 3D because i dont want to."
And sigs get over rated and people who does it are seen as Gods. I have seen 3D master pieces being throwed to the ground and at the same time sigs being rised to the skys. I actualy see people doing sigs afeter palying a week with photooshop, and people saying he is very good doing it. BUT i have never saw some one working with Max, ou other 3D application for a month and doing a nice work. And its not because they dont have talent. Its because its not that straight forward.

In the end, 3D pays by bills, 3D get people working in places like ILM creating movies like "Transformers", who wouldnt love to work in a place like that? Why arent we all working there if thats so easy to create 3D art?

The button "create nokia 3110 classic" doesn't exist.
The button "create materials similar to nokia cell phone" doesnt exist.
The button "create a realistic light setup" doesnt exist.
The button "create a realistic render setup"doesnt exist.

And why? Because every project is unique. Because there are quadrabilions trillions of shapes in the world and in our imagination. Because there are quadrabillions of types of materials in the word. Because theres bilions of light types and shadows in the world.

you create your owne pieces of the puzzle and create your owne image, because if there wore one puzzle for every image we can had in the world... well... the data base would be infinit and thats impossible.

But with the possibility of creating your owne pieces of the puzzle you have no limit in your creations.

its just easy

i agree on overrating of sigs foxymop, though i think UUiliam meant if you want to and have patience you can learn it. but as you said you were speaking in general and not to only UUiliam i understand and have the same feelings about people talking about 3D like they know much about it because they can handle photoshop

thats why i'm jealous...

3d is very hard, needs alot of patience as uuliam said. I have tried 3d myself, i've spent almsot a month of it and i can only make abstract and basic shapes like my boring lego designs... It needs dedication and hard work . Also sparks of creativity and solving problems i guess. Sigs are overrated imo as well as they are very easy to make, and they don't require your own ideas most of the time.

As foxy said, people with 3d deserve much more credit i feel. I've been on 3d forums myself and seem some of their works, they are amazing and yet people criticize them adn stuff to degress of badnness. <<heheh, i cn'at explain myself very well.. :(

Lol i also think that now, our ranking system should be much tougher
