Well im thinking about buying a new computer and i was going to ask what you guys recommend.

im not planning on using it for much more than music, photoshop and school stuff, i lost my thing for games so im looking for a computer that will run stuff well but im not looking to spend much then about 1200.

heres what i have so far as far as what basic specs i want. tell me if i should add/remove anything.

2.13 or 2.4 GHz processor
2 GB RAM
250 GB Hard Drive
17-19 in Moniter
Radeon x1300 Pro Video card

lol im not really into computers besides photoshop so yeah im a nub when it comes to knowledge. :P but im okay with not being a computer nerd

well you dont have to be a nerd to know stuff about computers ... but nvm lemme help ya out,

if you are going to buy a new computer think about the near future, with vista comming up and the whole x64 computing and programming you wanna prepare yourself for that.

so you will have to get a x64 ready processor ... either get an AMD athlon64 or an Intel Core2Duo ... actually thats a minimum requirement .. maybe ppl will recommend something else but i think this is good enough.

i see you got 2 gb of ram which are great.

which mobo you gonna get depends on the price and the processor, for AMD's i recommend getting a nForce4 or above mobo .. which has lan, 8 channel audio and all the new tech features.
for Intel's get something with the new gen chips like the intel 945 or something like that.

if you would direct me to an online shop you might find its prices close to the markets' like bestbuy or so i might help you with brands.

last word: dont settle for less than a geforce 7300gt .. the x1300 is a peice of shit.

pm or reply if you need any help

If you are going to buy a pre-built computer, you should be shot. Yes, even if you are vision. :(
Unless of course, it's a laptop. Because they're insanely hard to build.

You're better off building your own - parts are shaped one way, it's not hard with half an ounce of common sense, and if you get parts that are compatible with each other. I could put together one with what you want for about 900-1000 USD.

http://newegg.com/ <----GREAT source for parts.

And if you have no clue how to build one, google is your friend. Just type in "How to build a computer" - there's about 1.3 million results.

Ok this is what i think you should have going off your buget and your meens to have a computer.

First off you need decent ram, to run photoshop and all your images etc.. super duper smoothly. Try this.

2x 1gb Ram (kingston is the best) (http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/55836)

As you obviously listen to alot of music, try this, this will also accomidate the images, you make/ store on your pc.

2x 500 gb Hard-drive (http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=25497486496&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=108235)

Your monitor is up to you, but i have dual screen setup and its bloody brillaint so try an purchase 2 :D

Graphics wise... its a toughy as you just need something that will keep up but no fall behind, so i have got this.

This is the SLi ready 7900GTO this allows you to have SLi if you get a SLi board. (http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/117842)

Sound wise you want something BOOMING so try these two.

For alot cheaper you can get this (http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/112512)OR.... you can get this...For a hella lot more expensive but it owns ! big style (http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/96740)

Btw this is going that you have a Pci-express motherboard.

If you buy this then it adds up to roughly £610 ( without the super expenisve soundcard :P )

I hope this helped and if you need more ill help ill be happy to help.
