6. Skin Applied: The skin will be applied to the site from December 1, 2008 to January 31, 2009.

• Prizes:

- First place prize = Winning skin used on Tech-GFX December 1, 2008 through January 31, 2009. 1 year, 500 MB Hosting package + domain name and 1 year Deviant Art subscription ($29.95)

- Second place prize = 1 year Deviant Art Subscription ($29.95)

- Third place prize = 3 month Deviant Art Subscription ($7.95)

• Community selected winner

The most popular design as selected by the community via a poll on the site will receive a VIP membership or 1000 points.

• Eligibility Requirements:

Anyone from the site is eligible. There is no cost to enter. You must be classed on Tech-GFX to participate. (How to get classed link)

• How to Enter:

Respond to the contest thread. Put a watermark or copyright so your design is not stolen.

• Method of Judging:

- Skin Winner

Crowdgather will select 1 winner and 2 runners-up based on 1) technical graphics theme, 2) overall design concept and 3) the practical ability to implement the design; on or about November 25, 2008. The decision of the judges is final in all matters.

- Community selected winner

We will have a poll for any registered user of Tech-gfx to vote in. The design that receives the most votes in the voting period is the winner.

• Limitations:

You must be either a tech-gfx classed user OR have 50 posts under your belt, to enter the contest.

• Own Work:

For graphics and design contest, contestants agree that all submissions are sole stand-alone work of the contestant.

• A Note on Rights for Logo, Skins and Design Contests

1. Logos and skins become property of Crowdgather for the use of promoting the site.

2. Crowdgather reserves the right to modify the logo as necessary to fit into the site design.

3. Crowdgather reserves the right to remove the logo at any future time without notice.

4. Crowdgather will be granted the full rights to all aspects of the winning submission as a work-for-hire in exchange for the prize mentioned above.

@ Carlos Perez, I think an entry is a PSD file (or screenshot/.png) of the skin you made.

Susie will be able to cut it down and code it. :)

as the most used screen resolutions are 1024*768 and 1280*1024 you need to make sure at least these two can view the page.

or if you design it so it can be a flexible width, then you can design it to about 800 wide, height isnt as important, but flexible width is great.

we could remove the classing requirement. but then how would you feel if someone from another forjm came over here, made one post, won the prize, and left? its not fair to tech gfx members, so we ask that people be classed, so that they can participate on the forum and take the time to get to know us, and vice versa.

Does anyone have maybe, a quick summary on how to vB skin?

I think we should use a skin simple like 'tagmonkey', with just a nice blueish color pallet.
If I knew how, I'd attempt this, but I'd need a coder.

kind've, except mine is more simple and spaced out.
in my opinion, vB isn't good for tech based skins, and you should just stick to simple.
Sai did a great job converting it, but I just think it's to clumped together, and doesn't work well with vB.

Hi All,

The contest is now being voted on. Sadly though,. because of the confussion as per the requirements, we've had to agree to offer a nominal prize for this one, and restart the contest, with clearer, more specific guidelines, so that we can help you guys come up with a better entry.

Because there was really only one christmas skin entry here, its kind of knocked it all off, so after this one has been voted on, and the prize awarded etc, we'll set a brand new contest, that has no christmas theme, for a skin that can be used anytime for the forum. that way you guys have a more specific idea of whats needed, and you can go all out using your own ideas and designs, for what you want this forum to look like (if that makes sense.) This way, you're not limited to anything, and can design what you like.

** also, this way, you can either resubmit your entries that wernt the christmas theme, or re-do them, and design what you like for the forum :)

I'll have the winners name hopefully by monday, and we can get the prizes sorted, and then we can work on starting the new contest.

Sorry for all the delays with this. it wasnt an easy decission to make, because of the confussion with the netries. but we hope the new contest will help you guys better, and it can be more fun than the christmas contest.

He did a brilliant job of the design requirements for the contest, and kept it in the christmas theme.

However, because the contest didnt really generate the entries we were hoping for, and the christmas theme pretty much got lost in the designs, we'll be running another one, and using the prizes for that. The idea of the new contest is a general theme for the site, that can be used all year, and not just for the short period of time.

(The new contest will be announced soon.)
