i want to give Linux a try and I have some questions so i ask if someone here is using linux ( i would prefer Ubuntu) or has tried and can maybe help me...

First problem is that with live cd i`m NOT able to mount the hdds (for reading rights) normally (as I know) the mounting starts automatically with booting - but not here... if I want to hm play a music file in ubuntu live cd it tell me I had to mount my hdd for using - and if I try with right click it gaves me an error that mounting is not possible.... anyone any Idea where the Prob is??? i want to install ubuntu next to Windows but NOT if I don`t have a solution for this mounting problem...

I hope that someone has enough knowledge round here to give me some hints...

used Knoppix and goes really slow. I have Suse Linux installed on another PC. Trying to use it but still can't configure the Internet connection ^_^
