dunno, I'd lower the colors a bit, maybe a black and white gradient and lower the opacity, so it looks more greyscale :)

Eh? The brightness is there to add more of the scheme to the piece.

You see, the name of it is Falling Serenity.

Serenity is a synonym of the word happiness.

And happiness is usually express though happy things, like light, smiley faces, etc.
