.glass's Gears of War Tut

Hi all! Today, we are going to make a nice photomanip sig using a stock.

So lets begin!

First of all, create a new canvas. Take the size of your choice. Once the file is created, fill the background with white.

Hard, isn't it? :P

Ok, lets be serious. Now, find a good stock. I'll use this one :
http://games.shizzle.be/wp-content/images/060803-gears-of-war.jpg
Resize it (if needed) and put it into your canvas.

Duplicate your layer, and then go to Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen and set the layer opacity to 80.
http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/6069/image1ci1.png

See the diference?
Now, create a new layer (Ctrl+Shift+N) and then go to Image > Apply Image. Click ok. After that, go to Filter > Brush Strokes > Spatter
- Spray Radius : 23
- Smoothness : 15

Set that layer to Lighten and erase the parts that you don't like.

Create a new layer, go to Image > Apply Image and then go to Filter > Brush Strokes > Angled Strokes
- Direction Balance : 100
- Stroke Lenght : 50
- Sharpness : 3

Set the layer to ighten, drop the opacity to 80 and erase the parts that you don't like.

Create a new layer, go to Image > Apply Image and then go to Filter > Distort > Ripple.
- Amount : 204
- Medium

Set the layer to lighten and erase the parts that you don't like.
http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/3926/image3iq4.png

New layer, go to Image > Apply Image and then go to Filter > Stylize > Glowing Edges
- Edge Widht : 1
- Edge Brightness : 12
- Smoothness : 7

Then go to Filter > Distort > Ripple, use the same settings as before and set this layer to lighten. Don't forget to erase the parts that you don't like.
Then, apply a Black'N'Wite gradient map and set it to lighten too.

We are almost finishing.
New layer, go to Image > Apply Image, then add some patterns, C4Ds or whatever you want.

Create a new layer and then take a 200 pixels white soft brush and brush somewhere in your sig to create a "Focal Point". Lower the opacity to 70. I'll do it over the warrior's head.

Now, add some Photo Filters and Gradient Maps to give the sig some nice colors. Then, add another Sharpen (Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen)
http://img238.imageshack.us/img238/6426/image6zq9.png

Add a border, text, and you're done!

Hope you enjoyed, and please, post your outcomes.

Cya!

I'm not too fond of the outcome. The tut seems a bit too easy IMO and the technique and style could use much more work. This is more of a pre-sig tut then a sig tut. Sorry dude.

Thanks for the share, however.
